The word organic gets tossed around a lot today. We believe it is more than an important word, but an important concept that must be recognized by responsible individuals and businesses. We love the planet that we live on, and we love the people and animals we live with who are affected by what we choose to put into the soil and water.

This is why we call ourselves EPIC: Enviro Protection Industries Company. Protecting the environment is more than a catch phrase or a trend. It is a responsibility.

This is why all of America’s FinestTM granular repellents are:
  • entirely natural and organic,
  • fully biodegradable, and
  • completely safe for children, pets, and the environment.
This is why we select only the highest grades of active organic by-products, natural oils, herbal components, and unique organic carriers (which also exempts us from EPA registration under Section 25(b) of FIFRA). (For more information about this exemption visit

Epic Organic GardeningThe Value of Soil

Most of us understand the importance of clean water and would not purposefully pollute it. However, what we put into the soil may be of even more importance than what we put into the water. For one thing, what goes into the soil can eventually make its way into the water. It can also effect vegetation, eventually impacting animals and humans along the way.

What do chemical pesticides do? First, a chemical pesticide contains a concentrated amount of a certain substance designed to drive away or kill certain insects or other animal “pests.” These chemicals prevent bugs and animals from destroying plant, fruits and vegetables, allowing them to grow as desired. After all, there is nothing worse than biting into an apple and finding half a worm, right?

Or are there worse things? There are many studies that indicate pesticide exposure may cause many forms of cancer, weakened immune systems, Parkinson’s disease, attention deficit disorders (ADD/ADHD), miscarriages, infertility, and many other problems. (Read more at

Eating half a worm doesn’t sound so bad now, does it? But that is not the only alternative. Organic pesticides will help to rid your garden of pests without doing damage to the environment, water ways, soil, or our own health.

What Happens in the Soil?

The soil is where everything important to sustain life on earth happens. This planet was designed in such a way that its natural elements work in harmony with one another. Sunlight, air, water, worms and insects all help to naturally break down the elements and minerals in the soil necessary for plant growth. These nutrients and minerals are passed on to animals and people as they eat the plants, fruits and vegetables produced. The soil is replenished by the natural breakdown of decaying plants, manure, rain, and other naturally occurring processes.

Chemical pesticides and fertilizers are designed to bypass this lengthy, natural process. While they work quickly, the side effects, over time have become detrimental. Since the plants do not use all of the concentrated compounds used, the excess seeps into the groundwater where it makes its way into streams, rivers and eventually our drinking water. (Other negative environmental effects of chemical pesticides and fertilizers are described at

EPIC’s granular repellents can be safely applied to the soil in your lawn, flower garden, and organic fruit and vegetable garden. Everything in our product is naturally occurring and biodegrades in harmony with the natural processes that has sustained life on earth for as long as animals and humans have inhabited this planet.
